About Evel
The Cat Behind the Legend
Long before the screams, the schlock, and the questionable goings-on in the Cotswolds, there was just a cat.
Evel — spelled like the name, said like "Evil" — was a British Shorthair tabby: soft grey fur marked with bold black stripes, and a presence that filled a room whether he meant to or not. He was around for about seven years before he passed away on 29th October 2009, the day before Halloween, which, honestly, tracks.
This site — and the entirely trilogy inside it — exists because a cat that memorable deserved a bigger story. Every film in the Evel Cat saga is set for release in the run-up to Halloween: a small, ongoing nod to the date that started it all.
The Legend
According to Thistlecombe folklore — most of it invented specifically for this website — Evel was never really a stray. He simply arrived, the way bad weather arrives, and stayed exactly as long as it took to become a problem.
Three films later, nobody in the village will confirm or deny anything. The filmmakers have always taken that as a good sign.
